Warmun Art Centre
New website
Warmun Art Centre is owned and governed by Gija people with 100% of income returning to the community. The centre was established in 1998 by the late founding members of the contemporary painting movement in Warmun such as Rover Thomas, Queenie McKenzie, Madigan Thomas and Hector Jandany. These elders recognised and responded to the need for a community owned and controlled centre through which they could support, maintain and promote Gija art, language and culture.
BRIEF
Due to our long term relationship with Wunan Foundation we were asked to assist with an e-commerce related issue with one of their iBase clients. Warmun Art had previously commissioned the development of a website and unfortunately the templated option chosen by the developer did not support e-commerce.
The revised brief was to recreate the website and enable e-commerce.
WHAT WE DID
Warmun Art did not need a complex site – they needed a site that would enable their internal team to manage art, it’s promotion on the website and it’s inclusion in the online store. Every piece of art is unique and the potential customer needs dimensions, weight and visuals as part of the purchase process. Categories for freight were implemented to make purchase fulfilment as streamlined as possible. The existing site was recreated in the new template and full shopping cart functionality was created.
RESULTS
The new website has been pushed live without the e-commerce activated. There are some minor internal issues to be addressed regarding payment gateway which we are awaiting resolution on.
The Warmun Art team have been trained on updating the website and all elements associated with the shop – and we look forward to seeing the online store open soon.
