Very Special Kids: Creative Rebrand for an Extra Special Cause
As not-for-profit marketers, we’re lucky enough to partner with some truly incredible causes. Australian charity Very Special Kids is undoubtedly one of them, providing holistic palliative care for children with life-limiting conditions, as well as tailored support for their families.
After an audit revealed a critical need for a full brand refresh, the MIH creative team was only too happy to step in and show some much-needed love to this very special brand.

- Brand strategy to unite disconnected sub-brands and restructure brand hierarchy.
- Master brand identity to create a cohesive umbrella brand with a unified look and feel.
- Sub-brand development that aligned with the master brand and reinforced the VSK identity.
- Marketing collateral for individual fundraising sub-brands and campaign roll-outs.
- Website redevelopment on WordPress with CMS for client-controlled updates.
What began as a request for an updated identity and modernised logo quickly turned into a complete overhaul of how the brand, sub-brands, and applications were presented.
Fundraising activities were being treated as standalone brands, with little to no connection to the overall Very Special Kids brand. It was time for an umbrella brand strategy to bring everything together in a beautifully cohesive way.
We developed a new master brand identity, then carefully refined the fundraising sub-brands to align them in a way that built trust and loyalty with donors.
This meant creating a unique set of deliverables for each sub-brand, including event signage, brochures, billboards, microsites, merchandise, wayfinding, livery, decals, and social media graphics.
Finally, we redeveloped the Very Special Kids website, opting for a responsive WordPress platform to equip the client with their very own intuitive CMS. Now, they can manage their own content without relying on external support.
